About the Regional Development Network
Founded in 2019, the Regional Development Network (RDN) is a provincial nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing socio-economic development for English-speaking communities across the province of Québec. Supported by a network of 19 community-based organizations serving English speakers in Québec, RDN collaborates with federal, provincial, and municipal governments as a way to represent its network’s needs and challenges and to create projects and partnerships. Position Summary / What You’ll Be Doing
RDN is looking to hire a student from the English-speaking linguistic minority community of the Québec City region to support the role, mandate, and day-to-day operation of the organization and work of the communications officer. This position will provide the individual an opportunity to use and develop their skill set while working in a bilingual work environment.
The candidate will have the opportunity to work with English-speaking communities in a minority setting across the province of Québec to support the socio-economic development of these communities. RDN is looking for a multi-talented individual with knowledge and talent in the areas of communications, marketing, research, and the use of information technology, including mobile applications and various internet and social media platforms.
Specific roles and responsibilities will include:
- Working with selected RDN member organizations to create content for a tourism mobile app using the STQRY platform.
- Acting as the main contact for the member organizations for the story submission process.
- Reviewing and categorizing story submissions.
- Configuring and loading content onto the app.
- Creating a bank of promotional materials to be used at a later date (visuals, content for social media, website copy, advertising templates, etc.).
- Researching and creating a database of promotional activities (trade shows, events, advertising platforms, influencers, traditional and online media, etc.).
- Working with the network communications officer to write, develop, and design media and website materials, which could include social media content, blog posts, branded materials and templates, etc.
- Editing various documents as needed.
- Providing support to RDN staff and members of RDN.
Our Ideal Candidate Has the Following Skills and Experience:
- University-level student position: Bachelor’s degree in a related field in progress or recent graduate.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Experience in any or all of the following areas: information technology, mobile apps, communications, research, marketing, and social media.
- An understanding of and an interest in working with and aiding English-speaking minority communities across Québec.
- Excellent communication skills are essential as the candidate will be required to reach out to community representatives to gather information and communicate in a way that elicits trust and confidence.
- Good digital literacy: comfortable and experienced working with cloud-based computing systems, including office operations, tele-meetings, and social media.
- The ability to be responsible, to be autonomous, and to work independently.

- Being a self-starter and motivated.
- Leadership skills and the ability to take initiative to ensure the successful completion of tasks and projects.
- Aptitude for teamwork as the candidate will work closely with colleagues to gather information, ensure the accuracy of information, and guarantee deadlines are met.
